About Computer Technologies Department
The department was established in 1998 at Iğdır Vocational School and started education with 40 students in the 1998-1999 Academic Year with its only program, Computer Programming. After the separation of technical programs from Iğdır Vocational School as of the 2013-2014 academic year, it continues education and training within Iğdır Technical Sciences Vocational School.
The students of the department mostly receive training in programming languages (Microsoft https://c/#.NET), network systems, algorithms, data structures, mobile programming, office software, web development and database. Graduates of the department receive the title of computer technician. They work as intermediate staff in the IT sector with competence in desktop and mobile development.
In the department, all vocational courses are processed in two computer laboratories with a capacity of thirty computers. In this way, field courses are reinforced with practice. Some of the courses are given online through our university's own learning management system.
The academic careers of the students are guided by the advisor assigned to each student. In addition, each student conducts research on the field they want to work in, writes a report and presents a seminar. Students in their final semester develop and present a project on a topic they determine, such as desktop and mobile hardware animation. At the end of the first year, they have the opportunity to use the information they learned at school in the sector by doing a 30-day internship in the summer term.
